Three arrested with Leopard skin in Kathmandu

Three men were in the Kathmandu on Wednesday after they were found in possession of two leopard skins.

Those detained have been as Bishal , 28, Binod Tamang, 32, and Kami Singh Syangtan, 42, all of Shivapuri Municipality in Nuwakot district, and Bishal Tamang’s brother, Binod Tamang, 32, of Rapti Municipality-1 in Chitwan.

They were apprehended with the from Sekuwa Corner in Kathmandu -1 after security from the Minbhawan-based Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) were alerted to the fact that they were smuggling it. MCD seized a leopard skin that measured 2 feet 2 inches in length and 7 inches in width from them.

The arrested trio has been handed over to the District Forest (DFO) in Kathmandu for further investigation and punishment.

Similarly, MCD has turned over the confiscated skins to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO).

The Parks and Wildlife Act will be used to prosecute them (2029).
