NASA’s most recent X-ray telescope is launched into orbit.

In a rocket on , NASA’s newest X-ray observatory was into orbit to shed light on exploding , black holes, and other violent -energy events unfolding throughout the universe.

NASA’s Kennedy Space Center hosted the launch of the $214 mission, which was out by SpaceX. It’s known as IXPE, which is an abbreviation for Imaging X-ray Polarization Explorer.

As a result of this observatory — which is actually three telescopes in one — expect to see the most and extreme parts of the universe for the first time.

Earlier this week, NASA’s deputy principal , Brian Ramsey, stated that the IXPE project would “ a new window on the X-ray sky.”

The start of operations is expected to be next month. The project is being carried out in with the Italian Space Agency.
