Beginning on September 17, educational institutions in the Kathmandu district will be able to physically resume their teaching and learning activities. Kali Prasad Rijal, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu District, has informed that a decision has been reached that schools may be reopened after they have fully implemented health and safety protocols in light of the current situation of COVID-19 infection. However, according to CDO Rijal, the decision on whether or not to open the schools has been delegated to the local level after an analysis of the situation regarding COVID-19 infection.
It was decided in this regard at a meeting attended by representatives responsible for education at the local level in Kathmandu and the CDO, Rijal, who took the initiative. “Schools in wards where no cases have been reported will be able to run physical education classes starting on September 17 if they adopt health safety measures.” It has been decided that all responsibilities will be delegated to the local levels.” Other districts have stated that they will not make a decision until they have had a chance to discuss it.
